KENNEL TIMES HISTORY

Breeder Cathrine Nilsson

I got my first Westie in 1963, his name was Sollershot Stepson, nicknamed Bobkee. He was an english import, bought by Mrs Barbro Eklund, kennel MacMahon. When he was 1 ½ years old my family and I were able to buy him due to him being sterile. Bobkee became my faithful friend and companion through a somewhat rocky teenage. Cathrine 12 years old

He founded though a genuine interest for the breed. He unfortunately got "boxers decease" (furunculosis) and in 1971 there was time for a new friend.

Bobkee 2, Bio Bios Bye Bye, got me started in dogshowing and also in the difficult art of trimming. An incredible fun and stimulating time began and new contacts were made. I was overjoyed just by being placed in a class at dogshows with him. The interest in dogshows grew and finally Bobkee 2 became champion. Then I realized although I loved him dearly that he was not out of the top draw. Bobkee 2

So I decided to buy a SHOWDOG!

His name was Tweed Tartan Flagflying bought in 1974 just over a year old. James, as he was called gave me some of my happiest memories in this "doggy" life. He won quite a lot and was soon very easy International and Nordic Champion. Ch.Tweed Tartan Flagflying

Now I was really bitten, and the urge to breed good dogs myself grew more and more.

That´s how Olympia, Tweed Thistle Olympic Gold, came to join me and my two boys in 1976. She also did very well at dogshows, and ended up as International and Nordic Champion. Ch. Tweed Thistle Olympic Gold

Then it was time! On the third of March 1978 my first litter was born after James ex Olympia. 2 beautiful bitchpuppies were born, of course I couldn´t sell them! I was over the moon, but as you can guess I soon came back to earth in a very hard way. One of the puppies developed CMO, a hereditary decease known in Westies. Everything was black and the urge to breed Westies almost vanished. But the anger of the unexpected helped me and made me search all over Sweden and England to find a studdog that wasn´t believed to carry this gene for CMO. I found Int&Nord Ch Incheril I´m a Tiger, an english import who luckily had come to Sweden that same year. On the third of september 1978 my second litter was born, 2 males and 2 bitches. They all turned out healthy, 3 of them became champions and one of them became almost 18 years old. Now one could say that Kennel Times was started.

Thereafter I´ve bred 1-2 litters a year and touch wood, no more CMO! The Kennel has seen many puppies grow and become winners, 34 homebred champions so far. Of course there has been some more problems but I firmly believe that difficulties are to be solved by careful breedplanning and selection. My goal is to breed sound, wellmoving Westies of excellent breedtype and temperament. All for the pleasure of having happy satisfied puppybuyers of this marwellous breed. I try if possible keep in contact with them all, by trimming their dogs if they live in the Stockholm area or by letter/phone otherwise. I do all the showtrim of my dogs. This is still a great hobby for me!
